The System
How it fits together
Three councils. One community layer underneath them. Every student at the base. Representation around all of it.
Representation is the frame
It is drawn around everything because it is not a fourth council. It is how the other three are held to account.
Never Walk Alone sits under everything
Every initiative above reaches you through it. Its three events a month — academic, social, professional — are one per council, which makes it the spine rather than another club.
Every student is the base
Nothing is optional. No application, no committee, no selection.
1 — Academic
Nine majors, nine plans
The platform proposes a development plan for each of the nine majors, built with that major’s own students and faculty. Every plan starts the same way: study sessions for the hardest course in the major, named, with a room and a time.
The survey decides which course. A session is announced once enough students in a major name the same one.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Ask | The survey asks each major which course breaks people. |
| Threshold | Five mentions of the same course before a session is announced. |
| Announce | Course, room and time, on the calendar and in your community. |
2 — Career
Every major meets its own employers
Career Fest on 29 October is the first day of the structure: five tracks, so every major meets employers who hire that major, plus mock interviews, a CV clinic and alumni from your own degree.
The proposal is that it repeats every semester, using the same five tracks.
| Track | Majors |
|---|---|
| Track 01 | Business Administration · Economics |
| Track 02 | MIS · Computer Science |
| Track 03 | International Relations · International Law |
| Track 04 | Media Studies |
| Track 05 | Psychology · Education |
4 — Representation
A reply, a record, a result
The inbox. One Telegram account for problems and ideas, and a reply from a person within 24 hours. Not a solution in 24 hours — a reply, so nobody wonders whether anyone saw it.
The decisions log. Decisions written down where students can read them. It starts when there are real decisions to record; a log with two entries is worse than a stated commitment.
The published results. Survey findings go up on 18 October, including the ones that contradict us.
Why representation is last, not first
It is the dullest of the four. Nobody votes for an inbox. But it is what makes the other three checkable, which is why it is drawn around them rather than beside them.
What Our Webster is not
Not another academic department, not a second Career Development office, not Student Affairs with a louder voice. It is the student-facing layer that connects what already exists.
The councils
Who owns what
| Council | Owns | Reaches you through | Head |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 Academic | Nine major plans, study sessions, exams | The academic event in your community | [Name] |
| 02 Career | Career Fest, employers, CV and interviews | The career event in your community | [Name] |
| 03 Social | Events, trips, sports, the calendar | The social event in your community | [Name] |
3 — Social
Events that reach everyone, not the well connected
The Social Council owns events, trips, sports and the calendar. It reaches you through Never Walk Alone: five communities built around your major, where the members choose what happens.
Where all three councils meet you
Every community runs at least three events a month: one academic, one social and one professional — one per council.
